Long Mynd Honey Mead
A clean, medium dry, floral mead made with Shropshire ling heather honey and Kentish apples and finished with English Calvados.
The ling heather honey comes from our own hives on the wild Long Mynd moors in Shropshire, near where Steve the founder of the London Honey Company grew up.
Developed in collaboration with the award winning English winemaker Owen Elias, his modern winemaking techniques capture a riot of seasons.
Tasting notes by mead-maker Owen Elias:
"The bitter sweet of ling heather honey is balanced with juicy Kentish apples achieving a clean palate, a honeyed nose and a long, lingering finish."
Mead made with honey and apples is technically known as a cyser mead.
Enjoy this medium dry mead lightly chilled, as an aperitif, or with smoked almonds, roast pork or cheese.
A review from Jordan, a Whisky Exchange Customer
"A lot of meads I've come across are very sweet and hard to imbibe in anything but small quantities, this is much lighter on the palate but is exactly what I would hope for in a mead - a wine texture with all those wonderful flavour notes honey provides (without sickly sweetness). I could drink this as a table wine, no problem. It's the best mead I've ever had."
